[Infographic] Pedal Power — How Bike-Sharing Programs (A La Citi Bikes) Are Quickly Enhancing America Across The Board
The explosive rise in bike-sharing programs — led by an azure fleet of 7,000 Citi Bikes in NYC — is quickly enhancing America; ranging from health-related benefits like CV fitness, weight-loss, and cancer prevention, to a variety of socioeconomic factors, including reduced pollution and job creation.
They’re even a playground for the homeless to orchestrate free SoulCycle classes.
“82% of bike commuters believe their health has improved since they began bicycle commuting.”1
If you’re in a city equipped with a competent program, dabble — it’s a fantastic way to burn extra cals, boost overall activity and stimulate leg muscles (especially if you’re hitting hills), jumpstart the brain in the AM, and cut spending day-to-day. And if not, it’s likely just a matter of time — I’d expect bike-sharing to blow up in popularity as cities search for ways to drive down costs, reduce obesity, and minimize their carbon footprint.
The infographic from OnlineMastersInPublicHealth.com below pulls together all of the juicy benefits in one place.
