If you’ve ever had major problems fitting into jeans or wondered how they came up with a mannequin’s dimensions, you’re not alone. A group of athletes and active friends in Nevada — snowboarders, weight lifters, and rock climbers — felt cramped by jeans that didn’t accommodate muscular legs and body-types. That’s why they developed Barbell Denim, a brand that shies away from the ‘thigh-gap’ phenomenon and towards a clothing line that allows flexibility and freedom of movement. No, they aren’t jeggings. And they definitely aren’t pajama jeans.

When the group looked at how a regular pair of jeans was designed, they found that the measurements between the waist and the knee needed to be completely redone in order to create the jean they imagined. According to the company’s Kickstarter page, Barbell’s clothing line was created to fill in the gap left behind by most jeans:

Designed for athletes, these jeans are made to fit comfortably over muscular legs by accommodating your quads and butt without forcing you to buy larger sizes for the small waist you work so hard for.

But they aren’t just for athletes or those with active lifestyles. The founders want to offer a versatile denim option that allows for complete flexibility and freedom of movement. So much so that they market them as wearable for yoga, running, sports, and other workouts.

But will their product sell? The jeans have proved to be popular among active individuals everywhere. Barbell Denim created a goal of $15,000 for its Kickstarter campaign, which was met within 47 minutes of its start. As of now, 2,456 people have backed the campaign with over $318,000 in pledge donations. These donations help fund their initial production run and first orders.

Want your own pair, or just want to support the cause for muscular quads? Check out Barbell Denim.
