The Coke Effect: What Happens In Your Body After Chugging A Can Of Coke [Infographic]
Pssssssssh, how bad can an itty, bitty 140 calories really be?
Not that it’s mind-blowing whatsoever—we’ve been hating on soda hardcore for years—but if that 140 comes straight from a can of Coke, well, it’s REALLY EFFING BAD (and BTW, the same goes for Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and every other soda variety).
To illustrate the insidious domino effect, The Renegade Pharmacist put together a handy infographic that details precisely what goes down in the body during the first 60 minutes after Coke consumption.
It’s not pretty.
Key point for you to remember: after chugging, Coke immediately sets off a vicious chain reaction. A massive waterfall of sugar—39g deep—ensues, hits the bloodstream, and quickly spikes insulin levels, which directly triggers fat storage.
You’re actively making yourself fatter with every single Coke you drink. Plus, it leeches calcium and destroys bones.
Soda is the closest thing to poison that you’re legally putting in your body on a daily basis. STOP IT. ASAP. And that goes for Diet Coke, too.
