[News] TCBY Introduces Three New Holiday Super Fro-Yo Flavors
Calling all seasonal flavored fro-yo addicts — TCBY announced today that it will add Pumpkin Spice, Apple Spice, and Eggnog to its line-up of Super Fro-Yo classified frozen yogurt desserts. If you love rich, decadent holiday flavors, TCBY’s new Super Fro-Yo flavors are a fantastic alternative to ice cream, pumpkin pie, apple cobbler, gingerbread houses, candy corn, and other gut-busting catastrophes. It’s low-cal and low-fat — with only 120 calories & 2 grams of fat per serving — high in protein, and packs vitamins A & D, calcium, a healthy dose of dietary fiber, and active probiotics, which promote healthy digestion.1
Super Fro-Yo meets the following requirements per serving:
- 3+ grams of fiber
- 4+ grams of protein
- 7+ types of live active probiotics cultures
- 20% DV + of vitamin D
- 20% DV + of calcium
TCBY’s spin on the greek yogurt and frozen yogurt phenomenon follows in the wake of Pinkberry, Red Mango, 16 Handles, Arctic Zero and the rest of the America’s recent fro-yo explosion, which saw a production increase of 8.1% from 2009 to 2010.2
When I asked Dr. Wayne Geilman, TCBY’s head of product development, how TCBY’s Super Fro-Yo compares to competing frozen yogurt products on the market (e.g. Pinkberry, Red Mango, etc.), he said:
TCBY is actively following health trends and have fortified our products with Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Calcium, Protein and Fiber along with 7 probiotic cultures. TCBY products are made to have a rich, creamy texture and flavor while delivering reduced calories. I am not aware of any other manufacturer who is doing this. When TCBY was started the slogan was “all of the pleasure none of the guilt”. We try to keep that thought alive today providing satisfying frozen yogurt experiences, while keeping our eye on providing healthful treats.
TCBY added that the sugar in its Super Fro-Yo comes from varying combos of fruit, lactose (from the milk), sucrose, sucralose (splenda), and 36 DE corn syrup — never with HFCS.

TCBY Introduces Indulgent Holiday Flavor Line-Up Rich in Healthy Nutritionals
Holiday Favorites Packed This Year with Super Fro-Yo Nutritionals Including an Industry Leading Amount of Dietary Fiber
Broomfield, CO (October 16, 2012) – According to the World Health Organization, dietary fiber is the only dietary component that has convincing evidence showing a protective effect against weight gain and obesity. In fact, research conducted by the National Cancer Institute also concluded that dietary fiber might help reduce risk of death from cardiovascular, infectious and respiratory diseases. So with all of this compelling evidence, why is it that according to the National Fiber Council, Americans only average half of the 32 grams of fiber intake they should consume on a daily basis?
As it announces its flavors for the holiday season, TCBY, The Country’s Best Yogurt and frozen yogurt innovator, encourages Americans to indulge guilt-free in holiday classics — Pumpkin Spice, Apple Spice and Eggnog Super Fro-Yo. New to the Super Fro-Yo line-up, customers can close any dietary fiber gap they may have by enjoying three grams of fiber per serving from all the holiday Super Fro-Yo options.
“Super Fro-Yo was a real innovation for TCBY and our category in 2011 because it highlighted the nutritional gap between Super Fro-Yo and other options the consumer may choose to satisfy a sweet craving, be it ice cream, smoothies or even other frozen yogurts,” says Dr. Wayne Geilman, Product Development Manger and Food Scientist at TCBY. “For the holiday season, we felt it was important to elevate the nutritional values in some of our classic holiday favorites. So we maintained the flavor profiles while enhancing the nutritionals to at least the minimum Super Fro-Yo requirements. Today, our Super Fro-Yo remains nutritionally unparalleled in the industry.”
In addition to its fiber benefits, Super Fro-Yo, an Excellence in Innovation award winner, packs a punch of prebiotics, vitamins, protein, calcium and live active probiotic cultures unavailable at these levels in any other frozen yogurt in the industry. Super Fro-Yo meets the following guidelines per serving:
- Minimum three grams of fiber
- Minimum four grams of protein
- Minimum seven types of live active probiotics cultures
- Minimum 20 percent DV of vitamin D
- Minimum 20 percent DV of Calcium
Even with an indulgent flavor profile, our holiday Super Fro-Yo classics also contain 120 calories or less, a minimum of 10 percent DV of Vitamin A, one gram or less of saturated fat and a minimum of 20 billion live active probiotics cultures per serving at manufacturing.
