And set world records for washing machine hurling.
As it turns out, when Hafþór “Thor” Björnsson — AKA “The Mountain” from HBO’s Game Of Thrones — isn’t busy crunching skulls into ratatouille, he’s generally occupied being one of the strongest men in the world.
After the 6-foot-9, 420 pound Icelandic behemoth finished 3rd in the 2012 + 2013 World’s Strongest Man competitions, he placed 2nd in 2014 behind Lithuanian Žydrūnas Savickas. The idea of a bigger “Mountain” existing is utterly terrifying. He also nearly signed with the Indianapolis Colts back in 2013, and played pro basketball as a center in Iceland.
As you’d expect, he can lift some pretty crazy ish. This video recently surfaced of Björnsson deadlifting 994 pounds in pure tire weight. Marvel in the glory.
He also casually set the world record for washing machine tossing, hitting a solid 15.4 feet. All while painted like the Hulk. No big deal.

He also contributes to Men's Health Magazine.
When he’s not working on his (or somebody else’s) abs, whipping up Eggocados, or running a Tough Mudder, he’s probably off yelling at a Carolina Panthers game somewhere.
