9 Faux “Health Foods” That’ll Blow Up Your Belly
1. Yogurt
Why it’s fattening:
Regular yogurt, especially the kind with fruit on the bottom will cause waistline apocalypse.
While yogurt does have probiotics — which promote digestive health — and a decent amount of protein, its achilles heel has always been its ridiculously high sugar content. 27 grams of sugar is WAY too much for yogurt, especially considering that it’s mainly from added sugar and high fructose corn syrup — not from fruit.
This stuff is also miles away from natural. The last time I checked yogurt was made from milk and fruit, not HFCS, sugar, corn starch, pectin, & artificial colors.
Smart swaps:
- Siggi’s Icelandic skyr yogurt
- Chobani, Fage, Oikos, and other greek yogurt
Switch to Siggi’s Icelandic skyr — you’ll save 70 calories and 18 grams of sugar, and nearly triple the protein intake. Plus it’s ACTUALLY yogurt, not a chemical sugar bomb.
